Chess Train 2016

chess trainDo you remember the famous chess event called The Chess Train? It is a rapid tournament played in the train which goes through various cities in the region of Central Europe. It is organised during autumn months each year and guess what?! Yes, this year it will be the same case!

The Chess Train 2016 will travel on the route Prague – Regensburg (Germany) – Innsbruck (Austria) – Salzburg (Austria) – Český Krumlov (Czech Republic) – Prague from 7th to 11th of October. An 10-round rapid chess tournament will be held on board of the train during the journey among the cities.

If you would like to join in this unique event, don’t hesitate to register (at prazska.sachova@gmail.com). The number of seats on the train is limited, unlike the number of applicants from all over the world; last year, there were 120 chess players from 19 countries from all over the world on board of the Chess Train and the capacity was full already in July).

The seat on board of the Chess Train is EUR 199, the seat for accompanying passengers is EUR 149. Accommodation can be booked through the organiser in the selected 3-star hotels or by individual booking.

What an interesting idea! I had never heard of the Chess Train before. That would be a great idea here in the United States, if we had a sponsor of some type. Of course, that’s the problem with chess in the US – no sponsorship. Hope you enjoyed the Chess Train!
