January Plans of Metropolitan Chess Club

Metropolitan Chess ClubOn January 21st – 22nd, we will be running our 1st Metropolitan Chess Workshop, a new monthly instructional class that will be led by IM Andranik Matikozyan, IM Zhanibek Amanov, and FM Konstantin Kavutskiy. This workshop will have a breakdown for various rating groups, geared strongly towards aspiring higher rated players, and through the learned experience of our team and organization, we hope to provide a platform and environment for players to continue to learn and grow. On January 25th – 29th we will be running our 15th Metropolitan Chess FIDE Invitational, an IM norm RR, and concurrently from January 27th – 29th, we will be running our 16th Metropolitan Chess FIDE Qualifier.

These qualifiers are meant for players who are at least 1800 USCF, but below 2250 FIDE to attempt to qualify into the closed IM norm round robin events.

Our invitationals currently listed from January to March are all IM norm round robin events. We currently plan to hold our next GM norm round robin in March-April, but exact final details will be announced shortly.

Moreover, for those of you who enjoyed the inaugural edition of our 1st Metropolitan Chess FIDE International, we are glad to announce we are finalizing last details, and plan to hold a second edition in the summer of 2012. We will release such details shortly. Stay tuned!
